If you are planning a trip to the Virginia Beach area any time soon, make a note to stop by this charming local yarn shop on your trip! Sure, the beach is great, but if you are a yarn lover, then The Yarn Club is a must see on your trip!
I was in Virginia Beach and Norfolk for a quick weekend trip in February and I had to stop by and I wasn’t disappointed! It is in an easy-to-access location on one of the main roads, so you won’t have to drive around trying to find some obscure location!
Why I loved The Yarn Club
What’s not to love! The staff and other patrons were super friendly and welcoming. So was the official mascot of the store, Hank, the shop dog! This lovable Goldendoodle rescue loves everyone and greets you at the door. He is a gentle soul and very sweet.
I also appreciated that the store was bright and open and easy to find yarns and supplies. They have plenty of space and lots of windows, so even though it was a dreary day, it was bright and clean in the shop.
I also appreciated the mix of yarns and lots of independent dyers too. Everything was clearly marked and the staff were very helpful answering questions and making suggestions too. The customer service was fabulous!
What Not to Miss
You will find hand dyed yarns from small businesses, such as our local Sheep Graffiti. I purchased two hanks of this yarn and I can’t wait to crochet up something spectacular. When you have a super yarn, even the simplest of patterns looks stunning!
They have a generous selection of Malabrigo yarns, Emma’s Yarn, Life In The Long Grass, Hedgehog Fibres, The Fiberists from Northern Va., Berroco, Blue Sky yarns, Barnyard Knits, Woolfolk, Quince & Co and so much more. They also carry accessories, locally made bags, and more.
Plan to spend some serious time in the store…there is so much to see!
Classes and Social Gatherings
The social table at The Yarn Club is always open and full of knitters and crocheters. Their late night is Wednesday from 5-8, but you will find them chatting away most every day.
They host a crochet day on Wednesdays from 2:30 – 5:00. Their happy hookers are always working up some magic like crochet lace with beads.
Not all yarn stores have a clear focus on crochet, so I especially love this shop for making sure crocheters are not just welcome, but celebrated too!
