Are you ready for a fabulous free crochet slouchy hat pattern?

Are you ready for a bunch of fabulous crochet hat patterns?

Are you ready to put your crochet skills to work making a hat to support cancer patients and survivors in your community?

Let’s do this!

black crochet hat with pom pom

This year, I am a participating designer in the Crochet Cancer Challenge and I couldn’t be more excited to help support friends and family who are dealing with cancer.

You can read more about the challenge at that link or below, but the general idea is that to get this free pattern, you have to pledge to make one to donate to a cancer patient or survivor near you. It can be anyone, we just want to share and spread the love and the hope for a cure!

Each designer in the challenge has chosen a different type of cancer as an inspiration and dedication.

Sweet Adeline Slouchy Hat

My design is in support of those dealing with Melanoma.

My grandmother, Adeline, died from melanoma when I was just three years old. Many members of my family on my mom’s side have had issues with this deadly skin cancer and we lost my cousin to melanoma when he was in his 30s.

We all wear our sunscreen and get our skin checked yearly. We also participate in a clinical study through NIH to look at the genetic component of melanoma.

So, this hat was designed to pay tribute to my beautiful grandmother and to others who have had their own trials with melanoma.

I hope you will enjoy working up this quick pattern and pledge to donate a hat too!
