I am so excited to share this Pine Ridge Crochet Baby Blanket pattern with you on the blog today. This one is special because it was designed for one of my cousins who is about to have her first baby!

When I asked about the baby and the nursery, she said that they were not going to find out the gender before the birth and that they were going with a black and white theme for the nursery.

So, my head started turning and my first thought was polka dots, but that has been done a lot and can be hard to manage with black and white yarn. I did visualize a lot of texture for baby to play with and the black and white would be so striking together.

I decided to keep it classic and simple…black rows in half double crochet to keep the stitches tighter, but not single crochet tight, and then rows of cobble stitches in white to provide that fun texture and accentuate that crisp white color.

I have to say though, I think this would look stunning in a lot of color combinations or even as all one color too.

I hope you enjoy crocheting this one as much as I did!

Tips and Other Ideas:

  • The sc/tc cobble stitch is always worked on the wrong side of the blanket so that the tc stitches are pushed to the front or right side of the blanket.
  • You can use any color combination or even a solid color to match the nursery.
  • Want to increase the size? Just make sure your foundation chain has an odd number of stitches.
  • Want to learn the cobble stitch with a twist?
