Knit Cable Blanket pattern

Thinking about learning how to knit a cable blanket? This simple knit cable blanket is the perfect project for a quick gift. The pattern is easy to memorize and with a chunky yarn and big needles, this blanket knits up fast! A solid color is recommended to really show off the cables and get those oohs and ahhs.

Materials

  • Lion Brand Hometown USA in Baton Rouge Fuchsia (81 yd/74 m per 5 oz/ 142 g per skein; 100% acrylic)
  • Size 13 US/ 9 mm circular needle 32” length

Stitches

CO – cast on
Slk – slip one knitwise
k – knit
p – purl
C6B – Put 3 sts on cn, hold in back, k3, k3 on CN.
CN – cable needle
sts – stitches
rep – repeat

Row 1 (RS): Slk, p1, k1, p2, k6, p2, k1, p1, k1, p4, k6, p4, [k1, p1, k1, p2, k6, p2, k1, p1, k1, p4, k6, p4] x 2, k1, p1, k1, p2, k6, p2, k1, p1, slk.

Row 2 (WS): P1, k1, p1, k2, p6, k2, p1, k1, p1, [k4, p6, k4, p1, k1, p1, k2, p6, k2, p1, k1, p1] x 2, k4, p6, k4, p1, k1, p1, k2, p6, k2, p1, k1, p1.

Row 3 (RS): Repeat row 1.

Row 4 (WS): Repeat row 2.

Row 5 (RS): Slk, p1, k1, p2, C6B, p2, k1, p1, k1, p4, C6B, p4, [k1, p1, k1, p2, C6B, p2, k1, p1, k1, p4, C6B, p4] x 2, k1, p1, k1, p2, C6B, p2, k1, p1, slk.

Repeat rows 2 – 5 until blanket measures desired length. Bind off loosely. Weave in ends.

    I see where it tells the kind of yarn to purchase but not the quantity.

      My former partner wrote this pattern. I will try to see how many skeins she used. I think she didn’t note it because the pattern can be adapted for various size trees.
