Want to add a little crochet to your Christmas decor? These Granny Square Christmas Present Ornaments are a quick make and are perfect for any tree!

Granny Square Present Christmas Ornaments

The granny square makes a perfect present shape and then add some ribbon for a little flair!

Materials

  • Yarn of choice and matching hook – I used Red Heart With Love and a H hook. This worsted weight yarn creates a 3″ x 3″ ornament.
  • Ribbon of choice
  • Craft Glue
  • Starch
  • Blocking board/pins

Techniques and Abbreviations

  • ch – chain
  • dc – double crochet
  • sl st – slip stitch

Granny Square Present Ornament Written Pattern

Ch 4, join with sl st to form a ring (or use magic ring).

Rnd 1 (Right side): Ch 3 (counts as first dc, now and throughout), 2 dc in ring, ch 2, (3 dc in ring, ch 2) 3 times; join with slip st to first dc: 12 dc.

Note: Place a crochet stitch marker around any stitch to mark last round as right side.

Rnd 2: Sl st in next 2 dc and in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in same sp, ch 1 * (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp (Shell made), ch1: repeat from * around; join with slip st to the first dc: 4 Shells.

Use our video to learn this basic granny square technique and then just stop after the second row.

Leave a long tail for a hanger and finish off.

Tie tail to other side to make a hanger for the ornament.

Weave in any ends.

Block ornaments with starch to stiffen yarn.

Add ribbon with craft glue and let dry.
