The Hattie Hat is a fun, cute, and warm winter hat! And I am so excited to have Michelle, from Two Brother’s Blankets join us on the blog to share this great pattern.

The Hattie Hat

The Hattie Hat uses the same stitch combos as the Hattie Handbag to create its unique look! You’ll never get bored with a different stitch combination each round!

The Hattie Hat calls for a worsted weight (#4) yarn. I used Red Heart Soft for my sample. It is a soft, durable, 100% acrylic yarn that comes in a variety of colors.

This hat is worked from the bottom up and cinched at the top to close.

The pom is optional but adds a fun flare to the hat!

The Hattie Hat comes in 3 sizes, Toddler, Child, and Adult.

Materials

  • 150-205 yards worsted weight (#4) yarn (Red Heart Soft was used in sample.)
  • I (5.5mm) crochet hook
  • Scissors
  • Measuring Tape
  • Yarn needle
  • Pom (optional)

Difficulty

  • Easy

Gauge

  • Brim of hat: 8 sts x 9 rows = 2”

Sizing

  •  Toddler (18-20”)
  • Child (20-21”)
  • Adult (21-22”)

Pattern Notes

  •  Starting chain does not count as first stitch unless stated otherwise within the pattern.
  • In some rounds, stitches are skipped. This is to keep the seam from leaning too much in the back of the hat.
  • Pattern stitch counts are worked in multiples of 4.
  • For the brim, Child and Adult Size row totals are in parentheses.
  • Round 7 will cause the hat to cinch together, because of the decreases, but the stitches will be added back in round 8.
