My favorite colors are fall colors, so I decided to make these super quick crochet table decorations to help make my home ready for the season.

These are very simple squares that can be adjusted to work in any size or color.

Then, you use the surface crochet technique and some easy leaf cutouts to use as outlines and start making your squares come alive with fall leaves.

You can even choose to do what I did and add words to your squares too.

There really is no end to what you can create with the very simple surface crochet technique.

You could enlarge these squares make them into pillows or seam them together for a more traditional table runner. Or, perhaps go smaller and make little coasters…really, endless options.

When you finish adding these to your table decor, then jump over to these other great leaf inspired patterns by some of my friends!

Step 2: Surface Crochet Leaves

Cut out the leaf shape and pin onto the front of the square where you want your leaf to be.

Using the surface crochet technique in a different yarn color, crochet around the outside of the leaf.

Remove the shape to crochet the inner leaf pattern.

Add any other outlines or words that you want to decorate your square.

Finish by knotting the ends under the square.

Gently steam block the squares and display in your home!
