I am in love with this little crochet jellyfish bath scrubbie and so are my kids!
I love all the ocean themed bath sets and towels and my kids love anything jellyfish, so I set out to make something that would bring a little ocean into our showers.
This free pattern is worked up in one piece and is very easy for even beginner crocheters to tackle.
You start with a simple circle worked in the round to create the body of the jellyfish and then you work your way around the last round to add the tentacles in two different sizes.
Then we add a quick chain handle or hanger and it is ready to use!
If you want to get really cute for the little ones, add some eyes to your jellyfish. Or you could work a few in different colors and different tentacle lengths to get a little more variety in there.
- Yarn: (brand, weight, color, yardage)
I Love This Cotton, 3.5oz/100g, Mint, 180 yds/165 m
- Hook: I, 5.5mm
Techniques and Abbreviations
- ch – chain
- sl st – slip stitch
- sc – single crochet
- dc – double crochet
Gauge: Each round is approximately ½ inch tall
Finished measurements/sizing: Diameter of circle – 5” across
- Each ch 3 at the start of the round counts as one dc. Work the first dc into that same st to create the increase properly.
- You can adjust the tentacles easily:
For longer tentacles, add chains.
For shorter tentacles, remove chains.
For looser tentacles, only use 2 sc in each ch.
- You can also adjust the hand hold or hanger length by adding or removing chains. If you would like this to be permanent, you can slip stitch to the underside of the circle.
- Making this for a child? You can add some little eyes to your jellyfish with some cotton yarn of another color and just surface crocheting or doing a cross stitch style with a needle and yarn.
