At my last stop by Untangled Purls, I picked up some Berroco Cotolana yarn in a lovely grey and I wanted to try a quick shawl that could also double as a scarf. I wanted something a little open, but not too lacy. I love a granny square, but not always in the traditional square shape. Enter the Dark Comfort Shawl from Rhondda at Oombawka Designs. This is a great crochet granny square shawl pattern and certainly a good option for an easy crochet pattern.

I fell in love with this shawl at first sight! I love a black shawl or scarf and it just jumped out at me when I was searching on Ravelry. The size and shape were perfect for what I wanted to create.

Working It Up – Crochet Granny Square Shawl

This was a quick work up and since it is a repeat and goes from wide to narrow rows, it was fun to crochet. You naturally speed up as you go anyway and combine that with the shortening rows, I felt like I was a speedster on this one!

This took me less than 5 hours to complete from start to finish. The pattern is easy to understand and just uses a few basic stitches. This one is good for beginners and would be a quick project for a more advanced crocheter.

The pattern is pretty forgiving too. I know I didn’t follow it exactly on the edges, but it still looks great!

I followed the chain number in the pattern and then did a slightly different number at the edges once I figured out I had messed up a bit at the beginning. So, I just matched the rest of the edges to my mistake and it looks awesome. I love a forgiving pattern!

Your link to the pattern has not worked since last night. I am about 1/4 finished with this project and just love it! I surely hope I can finish it. Any ideas?

Looks like it is working again. It might have been something on her server. I hope you were able to finish!
